Universal Salvation: The Plan of God Part Six
THE GREAT LAST DAY II
Since the Jubilee is also a shadow of things to come, then the reality must be the 1000 years after the millennium, which is also the reality of The Great Last Day. As 2 Peter 3:8 tells us: "But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
And in this case, the Great Last Day really is one thousand years long, which agrees with the Jubilee one thousand years.
This is to be a Great Last Day acceptable to everyone. Just look at this fantastic piece of scripture at Luke 4:14-19:
"14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. 15 And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. 16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.' "
This is Jesus teaching Universal Salvation. "The acceptable year of the LORD" is a reference to the Jubilee Year; which in turn, is a shadow of the 1000-year Jubilee, or the Great Last Day. If this one piece of scripture alone were to be true, Hell is going to be one very empty place.
Jesus was reading from the scroll of Isaiah, which was a prophecy of the Messianic age, and can be found at Isaiah 61:1,2. It reads:
"1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD…"
Can you see? It is speaking of Jesus' active ministry. And He is preaching that there is going to be an acceptable year of the LORD.
So now we have the Great Last Day, which foreshadows a thousand-year Jubilee after the end of Jesus' reign of one thousand years. Not only is it great; it is acceptable to everyone, including God Himself. This is the culmination of His grace. It is the time for the Universal Salvation of everyone. And no one will achieve Universal Salvation by works; it is a free gift from God.
"Well, how does it work?"
Let us look at the shadow. Leviticus 25:8-13 says: "8 And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. 9 Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. 10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. 11 That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. 12 For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the field. 13 In this Year of Jubilee, each of you shall return to his possession."
In the year of the Jubilee, they were to proclaim "liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants". Which is what Jesus said, at Luke 4:18: "…to proclaim liberty to the captives…"
All in the lake of fire are captives of sin. But Jesus is preaching about an acceptable year to come, which would deliver any captives to sin, and which would set them free.
"What exactly happened to slaves in the year of Jubilee?"
Leviticus 25:39-41 says: "39 And if one of your brethren who dwells by you becomes poor, and sells himself to you, you shall not compel him to serve as a slave. 40 As a hired servant and a sojourner he shall be with you, and shall serve you until the Year of Jubilee. 41 And then he shall depart from you - he and his children with him - and shall return to his own family. He shall return to the possession of his fathers."
They were freed, and they were also free of all debt.
On the Great Last Day - the one-thousand year period following the millennial rule of Jesus - all who have ever lived will be freed from sin, never to sin again. All will have instant knowledge upgrades, like the Holy Spirit; all will have to accept Jesus as their Saviour, which they will; and all will be set free to have eternal life. God will have achieved His will that all will be saved; His plan of Universal Salvation will have been successfully completed.
Look at what Jesus said, on the Great Last Day of the Feast, at John 7:37,38: "37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.' "
This pictures a future resurrection.
Now, that was on the Great Last Day, picturing the thousand-year period after Jesus' rule of one thousand years. You see, it is not too late. And with their knowledge upgrades, all will believe in Jesus, and accept Him as their Saviour. Do you not want that for everyone? In your heart of hearts, do you not want everyone to be saved?
The Great Last Day was also known as the eighth day. Now, there is a coincidence. Or is it?
Can you think of something that happened, by Law, on the eighth day, which was also a shadow of things to come?
Circumcision. Watch this closely.
Did you know that Abraham had to be circumcised? Genesis17:9-14 says this: "9 And God said to Abraham: 'As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. 13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.' "
"What was the result?"
Genesis 17:23-27 tells us: "23 So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him. 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 26 That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael; 27 and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him."
Anyone eight days old, or in this case older, had to be circumcised. And it was to be a sign of the Covenant between God and Abraham.
Later, it became a requirement of the Mosaic Law. Leviticus 12:1-3 tells us: "1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 'Speak to the children of Israel, saying: "If a woman has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. 3 And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised." ' "
Can you see? It became a legal requirement under the Law of Moses, to be circumcised on the eighth day.
Since Christians were no longer under the Law, it was not required of them. Read Acts 15:1-29.
However, since it was a shadow of things to come, what did it portray?
Romans 2:28,29 tells us this: "28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."
What God wants, in reality, is circumcision of the heart, not in the flesh: and God is going to perform this for all people on the eighth day. The Day of Jubilee, or the Great Last Day. Everyone will end up circumcised of heart after the thousand-year rule of Jesus. It is the reality of the Law, and can not fail.
As it says at 2 Samuel 22:31: "As for God, His way is perfect…"
The Great Last Day will not only be great, it will be acceptable to everyone, because in Christ all will have been made alive. It is at this time that God's nature will be in everyone, and God will be all in all. And if you want the fairy story ending, which, in truth, is the reality: everyone who has ever lived, will live happily ever after.
